Listening To The Echoes: The Story of Ancestor
I’ve often pondered about the experiences and wisdom accumulated by our grandmothers and grandfathers, how they lived their lives, and how they dealt with every circumstance. I’ve thought about how they would have acted were they in my shoes today. Conversely, I’ve wondered how I would have been in their time and their situations. In my infatuation with quantum mechanics, the closer one gets to the Planck Scale, time begins to become less tangible. The same goes with the speed of light. Time slows down the faster you get, but that is another topic. The wisdom collected over one’s lifespan transcends time, and that information is passed down to the future. These lessons have a mysterious quality that travels both backwards and forward in time and is freely accessible when one is open to receiving it through prayer and self-reflection.
Ancestor is inspired by all of the different life experiences by our ancestors. Every situation and every struggle that we face today as individuals and as people was once encountered before by our predecessors. The further you and I look back into the past, we can see that infinite solutions and ideas were created out of necessity for the sake of the self, the family, the tribe, and the prosperity of the unborn yet to come. Each polygon and triangle represents the different perspectives brought forth by our ancestors, based on their own life experiences. Some of these solutions are creative, and some are difficult, but they were made by asking for enlightenment by the spirits before them who prepared this universe and this world.
As we ourselves gain experience and wisdom, we must communicate our ideas and work together. The act of collaboration is one of the most important acts of compassion. The ideas created by them were provided to them by their grandparents in a lineage of legacy that goes beyond all recorded history. Once we realize this, we understand that we are here because of the grace of our ancestors, their ancestors, and so on. Now it is our time to pass forward our wisdom, love and creativity so our granddaughters and grandsons can have the insight and tools to successfully carry on our ways and ensuring our future. Ancestor honors those that came before us, the insight that is passed on to us, and reminds to pass down what we have learned.
